ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is part of the traditional medicine of China, which includes herbal medicine, exercise, massage and diet. It is based on a history, philosophy and sociology very different from that of the West, and over the last 4000 years has developed a unique understanding of the workings of the human body.
Acupuncture uses fine needles to stimulate invisible lines of energy running beneath the surface of the skin. This effects a change in the energy balance of the body and works to restore health. Moxibustion, the stimulation of energy by the use of burning herbs, is often used as a supplement to Acupuncture. Both are powerful forms of medicine and can be used for treating a very wide range of diseases.
The Benefits of Acupuncture
Westerners commonly regard acupuncture as a treatment for pain, to help quit smoking or lose weight. The World Health Organization drew up a list of other conditions that lend themselves to acupuncture, based on clinical experience. The inclusion of specific diseases is not meant to indicate the extent of acupuncture efficacy in treating them. This is a partial list only.
